Life After Fifty has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Health and Safety of our members is always our highest priority.  The Omicron variant of COVID-19 has begun circulating in Windsor-Essex and the number of cases have the potential to grow quickly.   Life After Fifty will assist our community in slowing the spread of COVID-19 by taking the proactive measure of closing to in-person programming effective December 24, 2021.
Foot Care will continue to be offered and appointments are available.    

Life After Fifty will offer virtual programs. Our current programs include:

1. Seniors’ Centre Without Walls – telephone-based programs scheduled daily with a range of topics and interactive social opportunities. It’s a great way to make friends from a distance.

2. Zoom Programming – internet-based video classes and workshops featuring our LAF program, fitness or craft instructors. Please see our website for the latest schedule.

3. Foot Care – we will continue to offer foot care at this time.

Life After Fifty is delighted to announce that Lynn Calder will become our new Executive Director effective January 4, 2022.

“It is with great confidence that the Board of Directors welcomes Lynn to lead Life After Fifty,” says board chair, Lucie Lombardo.

Lynn comes to us after serving 20 years as Executive Director of ALSO - Assisted Living Southwestern Ontario where she passionately pursued equity for individuals living with physical disabilities. She is a highly-regarded and innovative leader with over 25 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector. The vastness of her experience will be a great asset as our agency continues to enrich the lives of older adults keeping them fit, well and social.
 

Welcome Lynn!

Based on recent directives from the Ministry of Health and recommendations from Windsor Essex County Health Unit, we are currently developing vaccination policies that will impact anyone visiting LAF. To allow time for implementation, we are changing the date of our re-opening of on-site programs to Sept. 13th. Registration will now begin on Sept 7th.  These policies are in line with our commitment to protect the health of the seniors we serve.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Part-time Contract – 28 hrs/week
 
This role is a contract position until February 11, 2022.
 
The suitable candidate will have experience in program planning in an appropriate setting, in addition to the following:
The Program Assistant is part of a team that is responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of virtual, onsite and community wellness programs. The assistant’s role is to provide general support for the delivery of these programs. Due to changing pandemic restrictions, our program delivery model is frequently adjusted. As such, the responsibilities of this role may be altered accordingly. Tasks will include but are not limited to phone calls to clients, data entry, on-site program setup and take-down, reception coverage, etc. This role may also involve working at either of our two locations or virtually.

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field
• Demonstrated experience working with older adults
• Accuracy in data entry and electronic communication is required
• Ability to converse in English, over the phone, in a clear and understandable manner.
